Impossible Things

“I can’t believe THAT!” said Alice.
“Can’t you?” said the Queen in a pitying tone. “Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes.”
Alice laughed. “There’s no use trying,” she said, “one can’t believe impossible things.”
“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why sometimes I believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast!”
-Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking-Glass

Have a lovely weekend! Believe at least six impossible things.

One Year

Today is a very exciting day.
Exactly one year from this very day my dear friend,
Elder "Ace" Morgan, entered the MTC to serve in the Quezon City, Philippines mission.

We went to school together for five years before we actually spoke.
I remember he walked into creative writing late, like he did everyday.
Sat down in front of me, like he did everyday.
And ignored me, like he did everyday.

But on this day his tag was sticking out.
"Your tag is sticking out." I mumbled more to myself, knowing he would probably ignore me.
"What?"
"I said. Your. Tag. Is. Sticking. Out."
"Okay." He turned around completely ignoring my annoyance with his tag flailing in the AC.

We continued ignoring each other for a few more days until one day he slipped a piece of paper on my desk with an anime comic of me karate chopping his tag off. He sat in front of me smirking.

Ironically, a series of unfortunate events(not the book) brought us together. Through similar personal struggles we became close friends and confidants.

I wish I could tell you his story. Or tell you why we were meant to be friends. Or why I'm so proud of where he is and what he's doing. But I can't. That's his story. Not mine.

He is: My friend. My weekly reminder that I am a daughter of God. My Dr. Phil(I bet he's going to love that I compared him to Dr. Phil). My Umbrella-ella-ella. My CHALK ART. My Lagooooon bus ride buddy. My snakesalive? And my daily reminder that every person comes into our lives for a reason.... Even that annoyingly quiet kid in your creative writing class.

Summer Goals

You may think I'm jumping the gun by coming up with summer goals. This is not me being on top of things as much as it is me needing something to hold me over until the Polar Ice Caps defrost.

This summer I want to:

Spend a lot of time here...

Learn to make this...

Make this lovely...

Go on lot's of adventures here....
Sew one of these...
Wear a lot of these...
Eat an astronomical amount of these...

Drink lots of this...

Read this...

Enjoy a lot of these...
And forget about this....at least for a little bit.

Post edit: I posted this last night...this morning I woke to a snowy provo. I think I'm supposed to learn to love the snow. I may take the advice of a friend who told me today, "When life gives you snow make sno cones."

Snow Day Turned Scone Day

This morning I woke up to snow swirling outside.
My immediate reaction was to complain(remember I want spring).
But then a lovely thought came into my head....
Today isn't just a snow day.
No, today is the perfect day for cinnamon scones.
And that my friends is how my frown turned into a smile.

I {heart} this recipe.

When Santa is loosed....

Today in my D&C class we were discussing section 29....in a nutshell it's about the signs of the times and what happens before and after the second coming. My Professor mentioned that Satan will be loosed after "the little season". I scribbled that down. And a few seconds later I realized that I accidently wrote:
"Santa will be loosed after the little season to tempt us."

I then spent the next twenty minutes trying not to pee my pants every time I looked at my notes. I'm glad I can at least crack myself up.

Dear Spring,

this weekend I had a taste of your deliciousness.
I now wish for:
-pink lemonade
-the smell of chlorinated water
-kites in the sky
-the sound of crickets after a long day
-my sundresses that have been patiently packed away
-hand stitching in the sun
-the birds that live outside my window
-seedlings in the garden
-easter egg hunts
-picnics in the park

Please, come quickly.

p.s. Tell Winter he's overstayed his welcome.
