Oh yeah...

Yesterday I remembered that with the change of winter to spring,
I am graced by the presence of Allergies. Or as I cleverly refer to him Al.
How did I forget Al?
Yesterday Al reared his ugly head in the form of sneezing, coughing, and itchy eyes.
He's trying to make me forget how much I love spring.
Luckily, in a few weeks I hope Al will go back to his pollen infested home
and I will go back to forgetting that Al is any part of my life.
Until next year that is.

Change

(taken by yours truly)
Maybe it's the snow slowly melting from the mountains, the reappearing birds, or the buds on the tree outside of my apartment, but I feel like change is all around me...and in some respects within me.

Change is one of those things I crave. Like chocolate. Sun. Or let's be honest, a cheesy movie. But when change does come my way, as it always does, I retreat. I want to cling to what I know, because that's safe. But getting what you want isn't about being safe. It's about being brave enough to change...or to accept change.

It doesn't have to be dramatic or even final. But it does have to happen.

Some changes require a house, a bigger car, love, a dress, a backpack, understanding, Facebook status(that's me being funny), a warmer coat, flip flops, patience, acceptance.

As my life takes an uncertain turn of events I feel blessed knowing in all of this change I will be taken care of. I know that there is a greater power in charge and that because I am his daughter I will be more than ok.

Home Sweet Apartment

(My niece Sofia)
I'm back.
Cali was great!
I got to have some adventures with my family,
ate the BEST black bean veggie burger at the San Diego zoo,
got a lot of "I miss you" texts from some lovely people,
finally found the much coveted "floppy hat",
played the Monopoly card game,
and survived the San Diego airport all by my lonesome.

I would say the trip was a success.
Now to tackle the 3 tests and 2 papers on my to-do list...

xo
P.s. Isn't Sofia the silliest little peanut you ever saw? I dunno why she's making that face but I love it!

Au Revoir

This was my to-do list yesterday....
Somehow I made it through most of it.
And at 3:20 I will get on flight 4555 heading to San Diego.

Have a beautiful weekend!

What's In a Name?

For 2 semesters at Dixie I had Spanish and institute with this kid named Danny.
But for some reason I always called him Jeff.
"Hey Jeff!"
"My name is Danny."
"Yep. And when I called you Jeff I totally meant Danny."

I think he thought I was trying to be funny, or cute.
But I wasn't. I was suffering from acute name amnesia.
So for a while I tried another approach.
"Hihowsitgoin?"
I tried saying it fast enough that he wouldn't notice I couldn't remember his name.
"My name is Danny."
"Right, Jeff."

Eventually I gave up altogether.
I would just wave silently when I saw him.
And I know he secretly wanted to yell across campus
"My. Name. Is. Danny!"

Where ever you are Danny, I'm sorry. I really wish after two semesters of being in the same classes I could have mastered your name. However, you will always be Jeff to me.

You Are What You Read

Recently I read this article about a serial rapist in the midwest.
I know stupid, stupid, stupid. Especially if you know me.
I take these things and internalize them.
I knew it was a bad idea, but I couldn't stop reading it.
Even more so I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Especially because he got off with something like 200 hours of community service. Another rant for another day.

Saturday it snowed in Provo.
SNOW! in March.
I decided to go down to my friends, the Johansen's, to do some snowy day yoga. Blissful!
I changed into my yoga pants, pulled on a sweater and walked through my always dim light hallway. I opened the front door and then I let out a blood curdling scream.
I'm sure my neighbors thought I had been assaulted.
And there, with eyes as big as saucers, was my roommates ex-boyfriend. And next to him with equally large and saucery eyes was my roommate.
I felt like a complete moron.
They kept asking if I was ok...the only problem was I having a fit of hysteria
and laughing so hard that the only thing I could do was nod my head.
I walked out the door and past them. I could feel their eyes follow me as I sobbed and walked down the stairs to 205.

Needless to say yoga was much needed.

Distracted

Lately I've been distracted.
I don't like being distracted.
Normally.
Some day I might explain.
Today I won't.
Someday.

P.s. I've had a fierce craving to build a fort lately. I just might put it on my to-do list for this weekend.

I {heart} Chile.

Last night I went to a charity event for the people of Chile.
I'm half Chilean.
I found myself tearing up as I viewed images and heard stories of the events during and after the earthquake.
I fell in love with these people of whom I have no connection to.
It made me want to do something to make it all better.
I realized I can't rebuild houses or even lives.
But I can pray.
I don't ask for favors from you, but if I did,
I would ask you to
please, please, please pray for Chile.

P.s. Have a lovely Weekend!

Po-ta-toes

I love this little tater and his skinny tato legs.

P.s. Mister, I'm so happy you're back. Really, truly.

Dear Sir,

One day while you are
reading the newspaper,
or fixing the sink,
or making breakfast,
I will sneakily play this song for you.
Because it was always meant for you.

with love,
Sabrina Danielle

Thank You

"Gandhi was traveling on a slow-moving train in India when one of his sandals slipped off and tumbled down to the embankment. One of his followers started to jump down to retrieve it as the train lumbered along, but Gandhi restrained him. He quickly unfastened the other Sandal, tossing it beside the first so that whoever found it would have a pair. I want to learn to feel like that."- The Temple: Where Heaven Meets Earth, by Truman G. Madsen.

Thank you to everyone who took care of me yesterday! (even though I looked like one of these). Your soup and delightful homemade bread, cookies, texts, phone calls, advice, visits, and prayers were all very much needed. I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for all of you. Having a cold has never been so fun. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

xo
P.s. Happy March!
