The Books on My Shelf

Sometimes I wonder.
I wonder about the books on my shelf.
What do they say about me?
I think they say that I am:
a goal maker,
a dreamer,
a planner,
a love searcher,
a hope finder,
a Christ seeker,
a learner,
an explorer,
a quote collector.

Somedays I wonder.
I wonder about little hands touching these books I've had for years.
Asking questions about these books.
Like, where they came from.
Or how many times I've read them.
Or why there are no pictures.
I imagine I will hold those little inquisitors very close and tell them stories I've known for years.

And in do time, the books on their shelves will tell them who they are.

Happy Weekend!

Today is Friday!
Sadly, this weekend is going to be a little crazy.
And when I say crazy I mean: spending all of my Friday evening in the library.
Yay! For almost being done with school!

"Shut. Up!"

My life has been blessed with many amazing people.
Last night I got to see one of them.
Sista' Olson.
I love this girl so much, more than I can possibly say.
I met Sister Olson her first transfer out of the MTC.
She was bubbly, sweet, and just an instant kindred spirit. (Plus she has the most gorgeous blonde curly hair EVER!)
In the course of the year and a half she served in the Provo South Mission (Most of it at the St. George VC) I was able to experience what it's like to be a sister missionary.
I've never been rejected so much in my entire life.
But I loved it.
Because when you serve the Lord the good always outweighs the bad.
And it helped to experience all the rejection with someone who could make it all seem funny.
We had awesome lessons, less productive lessons, lessons that never happened, and even one lesson in a bedroom (So awkward!).
I learned so much from her.
Like:
Even sister missionaries say "Shut. Up!"
That there is a literal "bean man" (Awesome story).
That people look at you funny when you go out to eat on Valentines Day with a Sister Missionary(An even more Awesomer story).
And that there is no better way to come to Christ than to serve Him.
You. Are. The. Best.

xo
P.s. You owe me a picture with your dad...and a can of beans!

B) You're not allowed to call in questions about this job that is apparently career worthy?

C) I'm not planning on making sandwiches for a living.

Tender Mercies Journal

(These girls make me so happy)

This last week I started something new.
I hope that it becomes a part of me.
I've told you that I've been going through a hard time,
so in light of that, I've been trying to figure out new ways to fortify:
My faith.
My self-esteem.
My patience.
My love for others.
Etc.
One thing someone told me to do was to keep a journal.
I decided to extend the idea to a Tender Mercies Journal.
It's only been a few days,
but I can promise you I've seen more miracles in the past few days
than I've ever noticed before.
I am so blessed.

xo
P.s. For my lovely friends who want to know more about tender mercies, read this. He puts it more eloquently than I could ever dream to do.

Ah Bliss!

(by yours truly)

Today is FRIDAY!

My very last Friday, of my very first semester here at the Y.
I'm more excited than I can say!
Plus the weather is beautiful!
I hope you have a blissful weekend!

xo
P.s. I've been missing London a lot lately. Probably because Flaqa will be going there soon.

"All of these things shall give thee experience"

Friends,
This month has been hard.
This morning my eyes are tired from crying
my heart hurts from being broken
and I want nothing more than to fall back into bed.

But guess what?
I feel great.
Better than I've felt in a while.
I would even venture to say I feel strong.
It's been too long since I've felt that way.

Sometimes I think we forget how fragile we are.
How hard it is to "get over" things.
I don't think we love ourselves the way we should.
I know I haven't.

I'm so grateful for
My parents.
My siblings.
My friends.
My Bishop.
The gospel.
My blog world.
My dreams.

Do me a favor today. Ok? Ok. Do something just for you. Anything. Just for you.

Confession #2

I don't know why I feel like I should let you in on all or most of my secrets...
But I have a confession. Again. Here's confession #1
I am a closet rap fan.
That's right ya'll. Rap.

Last September on my 2oth birthday my sister Monica convinced me to go to Zumba with her.
I was a bit reluctant because anything that starts with a "z" instantly sounds intimidating.
But I went.
This started my obsession with Zumba, The Warehouse, and strobe lights.
Soon I found myself listening to Black Eyed Peas, Kat Da Luna, and yes, even Pitbull. Hahahaha!
The funny or sad depending on how you look at it thing is
whenever I get homesick here at the Y I listen to a little "Boom Boom Pow" and
I'm right as rain again.
I think there's something wrong with me.
xo

Post Edit: I couldn't resist. Enjoy my homies:)
