Cook: Fruit Pizza

Today I had one of those weird days.
I felt snarky.
But I protested and decided by 12 o'clock I would no longer be snarky.
At 12 o'clock I jumped in the shower.
I then fixed my hair and put on make up.
Still snarky.

I remembered that I needed to make fruit pizza for a relief society activity.
I tried to do this without being snarky.
So, I turned on some Brazilian Lounge music and went to town beating butter, sugar, and eggs.
It's hard to be snarky under those circumstances.

Fruit Pizza

Crust
1/2 C. butter
3/4 C. sugar
1 egg
Beat until light and fluffy.
Add 1 t. cream of tarter
1/2 t. soda
pinch salt
1 1/3 C + 2 T. flour
Press into sprayed pan, bake 12 minutes @350.
Let cool.

Filling
8 oz cream cheese
1/2 C. sugar
2 T. pineapple juice
Mix together and spread over cooled crust.
Top with fresh fruit.

Fun Finds: She and Him Volume 2

When I'm not listening to this I'm usually listening to She & Him.
Combine talent, extreme beauty, and a throwback to Loretta Lynn and you have the loveliness
that is She & Him.
Do me a favor and listen to my favorite.

Happy Weekend!

Motherhood 101

Last weekend while I was home my niece "Fia" was also staying at my parents house.
Fia, is 18 months old, and is the silliest goose I know.
She's usually a quite the clown, but this weekend she had a nasty cold.
Every time she let out a wheezy cough my heart tore.
The weekend went by with no more than a lapse of her ability to hear me (because she chose not to) but was otherwise uneventful.
On Sunday morning I heard her wake up.
"Mom. MOM. Mommy. Mimmy. Mummy. Mama. Mammy.MOM!"
I walked in her room and pulled her out of her pack n' play.
She rubbed her eyes and nestled her head on my shoulder.
I couldn't help but think how amazing being a mother must be.

Fast forward two hours and we're sitting in a pew at church.
We made it through the first 15 minutes with little to no problems.
Until, the deacons started passing the sacrament.
I forgot to give Fia a piece of bread from the sacrament tray, which ended in protest.
Luckily, the deacon saw and came back so the little saint could have her bread, and eat it too.
Eat she did.
As the boy was walking back she protested again.
"Mo!"
Suddenly, a monster unleashed.
A fruit snack eating, goldfish tossing, diaper bag emptying, screeching monster.
I couldn't help but thinking only superhumans could be mothers.
It was the longest hour of my life.

Afterwards once we were home and she had the lay of the land again,
she came to me wrapped her arms around my leg and smiled.

I love that little monster.

Create: Ribbon Embroidery Flowers by the Purl Bee

I love embroidery.
I love how much time goes into each piece.
I love how quietly beautiful embroidery designs are.
I've always wanted to learn how to do ribbon embroidery but it always seemed like it would be pretty intricate.
However, the Purl Bee, yet again amazed me, and turned a hard project into something easy.
I love this tutorial.

Fun Finds: Graham and Green Bird Vases

I saw these vases a couple weeks ago and I haven't been able to stop thinking about them.

Utter loveliness in the form of a vase.

Graham and Green knocks my socks off.

In other, less fun, news.

I woke up in one of those moods.

The frustrated kind.

I'm hoping this weekend will cure me of it.

I hope you have a happy, non-frustrated weekend.
